Sharing the Faith Inside

This letter was sent in by our Brother Chris, the acting clerk at the chapel at Chino’s C-yard. He wrote this letter expressing the blessing of receiving outside ministers sent by churches. In his 17 years of incarceration this was his first experience of receiving teaching and support from an outside minister. What a needed grace this is for incarcerated men, both believing and not. This ministry serves the dual purpose of sharing the gospel with the lost as well as shepherding those incarcerated men who have already received Christ.

Dear Judas’ House Ministry,

Greetings brethren in the Lord, praise God for His mercy and grace in bringing the Reformed faith to CIM C-yard Chapel.

Thank you for the wonderful message on “Fathers”, (biological or spiritual, and the doctrines associated. I am the Chapel Clerk and have been a Christian since 2009, when God called me by His grace through faith (Eph. 2:8-10). In my 17 years as a Christian I have been a Calvinist and Reformed since the beginning , on a level 4 yard. This is the first time an outside volunteer has been sent by God and his church to a yard I live on! It means so much to me to see the Reformed church sends someone into the prisons as commanded by God (Matt. 25:36-25; Hebrews 13:3). We see so many volunteers from nominal Christian groups and even independent laypersons that are not sent nor gifted in sound doctrine, it is my personal joy to see at least one servant of God from a Reformed church come teach us. Thank you!

Next, FYI - I wrote the Bannered Truth Trust in Carlisle, PA and requested “The Christian Life” by Sinclair B. Ferguson. The Banner brethren sent me 2 free copies and several other books I didn’t even request. I am passing out the Banner’s address to all the men that came to our study on Sunday, so they can request their own free copy. It took about 3-4 weeks to arrive, so Lord willing we will have this path to getting books ourselves.

Secondly, one of the books was another paperback by Sinclair Ferguson called “Maturity” (continuing in the Christian Life). It seems like a logical follow up, after his “The Christian Life” mentioned above. Have you heard of it? Perhaps you can view it online.

I look forward to your next visit and pray you and your family and brethren are blessed in the abundant and all-sufficient grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Godspeed.

Sincerely,

Chris Brunt
